About Us
Home of Helping Hand Inc. began as a community leaders group dedicated to outreach for the Census 2020 and merged into a nonprofit organization in 2022. Our organization was born from a deep personal understanding of the refugee experience. Seeing the struggles of Burmese refugees and immigrants in the metro Atlanta area, we knew that survival wasn’t enough—our community needed the tools to thrive. We began by providing essential services such as social support, transportation, community outreach and senior care, but our mission is more than offering aid. It’s about empowering individuals to become self sufficient, ensuring they can build fulfilling lives, find stable employment, and integrate with confidence into their new home. Through this work, we transform challenges into opportunities, helping our community rise together.
Meet our Founder
Veronica Thang, originally from Burma, has dedicated herself to standing up for her community. She leads Home of Helping Hand to give refugee communities education, empowerment, and motivation to do things like learn English, go to work, and get a driver's license. Veronica spends her time connecting communities, organizing events, and helping on an individual basis to overcome the challenges refugees face in America.
